“I want filler, but I don’t know which one.”
Perfect. You are not supposed to know.
Some fillers are soft and flexible. Others are firmer and provide more support. One may be used to soften delicate lines, while another may be better for restoring cheek volume, defining the chin or improving a deeper fold.
There is no single “best” filler. The right choice depends on your face, your concern and the kind of result you want.
So, what kind of filler patient are you?

1. Anti-Filler Annie
The “Anti-Filler” or First-Time Injectable Patient
- She wants to look refreshed, not “done.”
- She may be concerned about lipstick lines, thinning lips or subtle changes around her mouth.
- She is more worried about seeing too much change than too little.
Why She May Be Seeing It
With age, the lips can gradually lose volume, shape and definition. The skin around the mouth also becomes thinner, while years of smiling, talking and puckering can make fine lines more noticeable.
What We May Consider
A soft, lightweight filler that moves naturally and blends smoothly into delicate tissue. The goal is to soften fine lines or restore subtle lip definition without creating a lot of projection or noticeable fullness.
Because this area moves constantly, the filler must be flexible enough to look natural when Annie speaks and smiles.
For Annie, subtle does not simply mean using less filler. It means choosing the right texture, placement and amount for her anatomy.

3. Bring-’Em-Back Betty
The Mature Restoration Patient
- She is not trying to create a brand-new face.
- She may notice flatter cheeks, thinning lips, deeper folds or features that are less defined.
- She wants to restore some of the shape and support that have gradually been lost.
Why She May Be Seeing It
Facial aging is not only about wrinkles. Over time, we lose collagen, fat and even some of the underlying bone that once supported the face.
As that support decreases, the cheeks may look flatter, folds can become deeper and the lower face may begin to feel heavier. The line Betty notices may actually be caused by volume loss somewhere else.
What We May Consider
A firmer, more supportive filler that can be placed deeper to help replace lost structure and restore shape. Instead of acting like a surface-level plumper, this type of filler works more like an underlying foundation.
Restoring support in the cheeks or midface may also soften the appearance of folds lower on the face without filling each line directly.
Betty does not necessarily need everything filled. She needs an injector who understands what has changed and where restoring support could make the most meaningful difference.

4. Sculpted Scarlett
The Structural Contour Patient
- She wants more definition through her cheeks, chin or profile.
- She is interested in shape, proportion and balance.
- She is less concerned with softening a wrinkle and more concerned with how her features work together.
Why She May Be Seeing It
Scarlett’s concern may not be related to aging at all. The natural size or position of the chin and cheeks can affect the balance of the entire face.
For example, a smaller or recessed chin may make the nose appear more prominent or leave the lower face looking less defined.
What We May Consider
A firm, cohesive filler that holds its shape and creates projection instead of spreading widely into the surrounding tissue.
This type of filler can act almost like temporary structure, allowing us to improve definition, contour and balance through carefully placed amounts.
Scarlett may know which feature bothers her, but we still need to consider the whole face before deciding where filler belongs.

6. Low-Maintenance Laura
The Value-Conscious Patient
- She wants the right result without frequent upkeep.
- She wants to know how long her results may last.
- She cares about overall value, not simply finding the least expensive syringe.
Why Maintenance Can Vary
Not every filler lasts the same amount of time, and not every area holds filler in the same way.
Softer fillers used in areas with a lot of movement may break down more quickly. Firmer fillers placed deeper in areas with less movement may maintain their shape and support longer.
Longevity can also depend on the amount used, the area treated and how Laura’s individual body responds.
What We May Consider
A filler with the right combination of staying power, structure and movement for the area being treated.
The longest-lasting filler is not automatically the best choice. A very firm filler may work beautifully for cheek support but feel unnatural in a soft, highly active area such as the lips.
For Laura, value means choosing the filler that can safely provide the result she wants with a maintenance plan that feels realistic.
A longer-lasting filler is only a good investment if it is also the right filler for the job.

You Tell Us the Goal. We Choose the Product.
You may see yourself in one of these patients, or you may be a combination of several.
You might be Anti-Filler Annie around your mouth, Bring-’Em-Back Betty through your cheeks and Low-Maintenance Laura when it comes to upkeep.
That is exactly why we do not expect you to choose your own filler.
During your consultation, tell us:
- What is bothering you
- What you hope to change
- How subtle or noticeable you want the result to be
- What you absolutely do not want
- What kind of maintenance feels realistic
- What budget you are comfortable working within
During your full-face evaluation, we will listen to what you see, explain what we see, help you understand why it is happening and discuss how we may be able to improve it.
Sometimes the right plan includes filler. Sometimes another treatment would serve you better. Sometimes we may tell you that you do not need treatment at all.
The personality starts the conversation. The consultation determines the plan.
